Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs has approved the construction of 1.86 lakh more affordable houses under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban). Subsequently, central government will provide more homes for urban poor under its flagship PMAY Urban. Accordingly, govt. will make an investment of Rs. 11,169 crore which will include central assistance of Rs. 2,797 crore.
Central govt. has sanctioned these houses in the 30th meeting of Central Sanctioning and Monitoring Committee. The total number / tally of pucca houses under this Urban Housing scheme has reached around 39.25 lakh. According to the decision, govt. will build new houses in Haryana, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Kerala, Uttarakhand and Orissa.
PMAY-Housing For All (PMAY-HFA) is flagship scheme of Modi govt. to provide affordable houses to economically weaker sections, LIG, MIG and HIG groups till 2022.

Affordable Houses under AHP Component of PMAY Urban
Central govt. has approved 77,842 houses under Affordable Housing in Partnership (AHP) component of PMAY (U) whose details are as follows:-
- Haryana – 36,056 houses
- Karnataka – 16,026 houses
- Tamil Nadu – 13,951 houses
- Gujarat – 6,246 houses
- Maharashtra – 5,035 houses
- Uttarakhand – 528 houses
Number of Houses under BLC Component of PMAY Urban
Central govt. has sanctioned 1.08 lakh new houses under Beneficiary Led Construction (BLC) Component of PMAY (Urban). The distribution of houses is as follows:-
- Tamil Nadu – 26,672 houses
- Karnataka – 16,630 houses
- Haryana – 13,663 houses
- Bihar – 11,411 houses
- Kerala – 9,461 houses
- Gujarat – 8,768 houses
- Maharashtra – 7,088 houses
- Uttarakhand – 5,698 houses
- Odisha – 5,133 houses
After the final approval of CSMC, the total number of houses under PMAY (U) will reach up to 37.83 lakh. Furthermore after subsuming projects of Rajiv Awas Yojana (RAY) Scheme, the total tally moves up to 39.25 lakh houses.
