Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana online applications for the poll bound states including Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Goa and Manipur have been temporarily disabled. As per the message on the website, the online assessment process for the PMAY for the poll bound states will remain disabled until the election process is over due to the election code of conduct in effect.
Central government is inviting online applications/assessments for the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Urban through its official website pmaymis.gov.in. Excluding the five poll bound states, eligible candidates from all other states can fill the online assessment form of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana available on pmaymig.gov.in
Applications for the scheme are also being invited through the common service centers across the country, however candidates from these states will be barred from applying for the scheme through CSC’s as well.
Under the PMAY-U, the central government is providing financial assistance to the urban poor of the country to own a home. The financial assistance is provided under different components including direct benefit transfer and subsidy on home loan. The central government aims to provide homes to about 2 Crore families in urban India by the year 2022.
Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi has recently announced some amendments in the PMAY home loan scheme. As per the new announcement, the eligible beneficiaries can now avail a home loan of up to Rs. 12 Lakh for a period of up to 20 years against Rs. 6.5 Lakh for 15 years as per the previous guidelines.
The central government has now also introduced the Middle Income Group of the society to the scheme and avail loan benefits. A home loan availed under Pradhan Matri Awas Yojana to buy the first home will save about Rs. 2.4 Lakh to the borrower through the interest subsidy being provided by the government.
