State Government of Odisha has set a target of constructing about 2.5 Lakh houses in the state within next one year. The housing units will be constructed in rural areas for the rural poor in the state.
Out of the total 2.5 Lakh total houses to be built, state government will develop 1.20 Lakh homes under the centrally sponsored housing scheme Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. About 92 thousand homes will be developed under the Biju Pucca Ghar Yojana which is sponsored by the state itself.
According to the sources, the state government given its instructions to to all district collectors to ensure the successful implementation of the scheme. Biju Pucca Ghar Yojana aims to convert all the kutcha houses in the state to Pucca House (Cemented Home).
State Panchayati Raj department of the state has also announced the incentives for timely completion of the construction for homes.
The cost of construction of pucca home with a minimum built up area of 20 Sq.Mt. excluding the toilet is Rs. 70,000/- for non IAP districts and 75,000/- for IAP districts. The cost can be revised by the state government time to time.
